BitPost™ Product Description and General Information
BitPost™ is a New Zealand-manufactured bituminous emulsion and polymer product, developed as an alternative to creosote and carbolineum.
With its rot-resistant and disinfecting properties, BitPost™ is ideally suited to the preservation and staining of wooden structures, including post-and-rail fences, retaining walls and structural timber framing. It is also suitable for treating in-ground posts.
Application and Coverage
Timber typically requires only one coat, although spray application may require a second coat to achieve an even, black finish. One litre covers approximately 3 to 4 square metres. On a post-and-three-rail fence, one litre covers approximately 2 to 3 linear metres when both sides are coated. Spray application generally consumes slightly more product, depending on the equipment used.
- BitPost™ Brush On is intended primarily for surface application by brush, dipping or airless spray equipment.
- BitPost™ Spray Grade is intended primarily for surface application by knapsack garden sprayer or other spray equipment.
Durability
A recoat is required after 3 to 5 years. Thereafter, the coating will last a further 8 to 10 years before reapplication is needed.
Colour
Black to very dark brown.
